The foundation may be in the past, but current designs are very much a product of future thinking. While asymmetrical spinnaker design has garnered more attention, Quantum has continued to forge ahead with new work in the design of "traditional" symmetricals. The design team has been able to study the complex aerodynamics in one of the worlds most highly developed wind tunnel testing programs. An ambitious program to update and integrate this type of testing into the design process has been undertaken. Countless hours of two boat testing, and fleet racing in the world's toughest offshore one design classes has provided the proving ground. The result is a state of the art series of symmetrical spinnakers designed to cover the full range of sailing angles and wind velocities. Each initial design is then tailored to the boat and client's specific needs.
