Peter Milner's Primed Up has won the highly competitive Bakewell-White 36 Western Australian IRC Championship, with an impressive scorecard of 1, 1, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1.
It is the first time since the event's inception that the title has been lifted from the Royal Perth Yacht Club and will now reside at Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club, the home of Milner (Owner / Helmsman) and his team of Paul Eldrid (Tactician), Terry Page (Mainsheet), Nick Davis (Trim), Andrew Jordan (Trim), Vern Williamson (Pit), Adam Hancock (Bow) and subs Brett Milner & Paul Nevard.

Primed Up used a full inventory of Quantum Fusion M sails & Renegade Spinnakers, and benefited greatly from an off season optimisation program and sail inventory update. Primed Up's boat speed improved substantially and it's IRC rating improved, transforming it into what Peter now calls a "rocket ship". "Quantum Sails have made a huge difference to the boats performance" said an elated Peter. "It's nice being quick, and when you trim it right, the boat's off like a dirty shirt!"
In a hard fought tussle for second overall, Gary Rodereda and his highly skilled team on R6 edged out Harry Schmitz's well campaigned Team SAAB with co-helmsman / ex America's Cup skipper Gordon Lucas. Team SAAB still has a protest to be heard involving R6 which may alter the points separation for the minor placings but cannot change the result.
The win for Milner, of Peter Milner Yachts & builder of the Bakewell - White designed 36 rounds out a highly successful 2005 / 2006 season. The same Primed Up team finished 2nd IRC in the Premier Offshore Division (20 boats) of Geographe Bay Race Week, Western Australia's largest big boat regatta (104 total entries). In an extremely close series, Chris Jones' IRC optimised Beneteau 40.7 Liesl took first place followed by Primed Up in second with Trevor Taylor's Farr 47 Ausmaid finishing third.
