2/3 Milson PlaceIn December 2004 the new specialised Quantum loft was opened, purposely fitted to ensure a comfortable, efficient environment capable of producing world class products. This multi level facility ensures sails are designed, engineered and built to the most rigorous of standards and meet demanding quality controls. The loft totals 380 sq meters and is situated within 20 minutes of all Swan River based clubs and 10 minutes from Fremantle.
An accomplished sailor with numerous victories including State, National & World Champion, Paul has also designed, built sails and coached a string of National and World Champions. Having accepted an invitation to join the Quantum Group in 2003, Paul and the Western Australia loft have continued to excel, with Quantum sails powering an impressive list of yachts to victory.
Recently, Paul has competed at Hamilton Island Race Week as tactician aboard Cookson 50 Chieftain, Rolex San Francisco Big Boat Series on Beecom, Rolex Big Boat Challenge and Sydney to Hobart race aboard Konica Minolta and N.Z Bay of Islands Race Week aboard Cookson 50 Wingz. Closer to home, he performed an IRC optimisation on Peter Milner's Primed Up, and with all new sails and as on board tactician they won the 2005 – 2006 Bakewell White 36 IRC Championship and were 2nd at 2006 Geographe Bay Race Week IRC Racing.
In addition to Paul's racing achievements, he is a past Coca Cola Junior Sport Star of the Year (1987) and Coach of the Year (2000, 2001, 2002), and has been honoured with many other awards for excellence in sailing.
In keeping with Paul's driven attitude, Quantum Sails Western Australia was a finalist in the 2005 Australian Institute of Management Small Business of the Year Award. The Western Australia loft has been successful in exporting sails to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong.
Brent Joined Quantum in 2004 as a Trainee and graduated in November 2006. He excelled in all aspects of his traineeship and has developed skills way beyond expectation. His attention to detail, innovative approach and enthusiasm makes him a valuable part of the Quantum team. He recently travelled and worked in the Quantum Melboune loft to gain experience and sharpen his skills. Brent is an accomplished sailor with victories in the Pelican and 125 Classes, and more recently on keelboats including the M27, S80, BW 36 and Mumm 30. In addition to managing production & co-ordinating service, he travels to his home town of Esperance some 700 km away on the southern coast of Western Australia monthly and along the way services many of our regional customers.
Rees is our newest Trainee, although having worked with us throughout 2006 on a Worklink program involving his school and Quantum Western Australia. Having shown great potential, skills and a very good understanding of sails Rees accepted an offer to join Quanum as a Trainee in 2007. Rees is an accomplished one design, teams race, match race and offshore sailor made even more impressive by his age. He competes regularly on the WA Offshore circuit, in addition to racing his 505 and representing his club at all major Youth Match Race and Teams Racing events. Rees was a member of the 2006 Junior Exchange Sailing Scheme where he raced international 420's in Germany and Italy over 7 weeks.
